Wire Rope Sling / 1" Standard Eye & Eye

Made using EIPS wire rope, which is 15% stronger than IPS wire rope. This sling is manufactured using the flemish eye splice technique to form the eyes and is then mechanically swaged using a steel sleeve. The benefit of a flemish eye is that the integrity of the eye is not solely dependent on the sleeve. Should the sleeve become damaged during use, there is reserve strength in the eye. All slings come with a rating tag as per OSHA/ASME standards.

When wire rope is bent around a load, or diameter, the rope strength is decreased. The D/d ratio is the diameter of the object around which the rope is bent (D), divided by the diameter (d) of the rope. D/d affects slings used in basket hitches and must be taken into consideration. When the diameter of the load is 4 times the diameter of the wire rope sling the D/d ratio is 4/1 and the sling efficiency is 75% of the Basket WLL.

Inspection & Safety

Before every use: visual check for cracks, corrosion, distortion, wear, and illegible markings. Annually (minimum): documented periodic inspection by a trained inspector. Remove from service at first sign of damage. Never repair rigging hardware by welding, heating, or bending.

WARNING: Improper use of rigging can cause death or serious injury. Never exceed the rated Working Load Limit. Apply derating for side-loading, elevated temperature, or chemical exposure. Final application decisions must be made by a Qualified Person per OSHA 1926.32(m).
