Product Description
When lifting heavy loads with synthetic or wire rope slings, sharp edges can cause significant wear and damage. Our Magnetic Sling Protectors are engineered to protect your lifting slings from abrasion and cuts when working around sharp corners or rough surfaces. Built to increase the lifespan of your slings and enhance workplace safety, these durable protectors are a must-have for any lifting operation.
Key Features
- Premium Edge Protection: Designed to safeguard synthetic, wire rope, and chain slings from edge-related sling damage, preventing you costly replacements. Also used to protect the object from being marred from the lifting slings.
- Powerful Magnetic Attachment: Embedded magnets keep the protectors securely in place, providing hands-free protection without the need for additional straps or ties.
- Durable Construction: Made from non-metallic high-performance cast nylon
- Heat Stabilized: Allowing for safe operations at higher temperatures
- Easy to Use and Reposition: The magnets allow quick placement and adjustments, saving time during lifting operations. They stay where you put them!
- Improved Workplace Safety: Helps maintain sling integrity and reduces the risk of accidents caused by compromised lifting equipment.

-
MEDIUM DUTY:
- Ideal for use with synthetic slings, and can also use wire rope and chain
-
HEAVY DUTY:
- Enhanced durability to withstand high pressure loading from more abrasive wire rope and chain slings
-
CAPACITY:
- Capacity is 12,500 psi/in of sling contact or 12,500 psi of compression capacity
- 3/4" diameter wire rope sling has contact area of less than 1", meaning capacity of the sling protector will be less than 12,500 psi
- Capacity is calculated by multiplying 12,500 x the contact area of the sling
- If contact area of wire rope sling is .5" then the resulting capacity would be:
- 12,500 psi x .5 = 6,250 psi
- The above direction is contingent upon having the vertical and horizontal edges of the sling protectors in 100% contact with the load, i.e., in full contact.

Standards & Compliance
Every product we carry is individually marked with Working Load Limit (WLL), manufacturer traceability code, and country of origin. Inspection and mill certificates are available on request — email sales@slingcenter.com with your order number.
Governing Standards
- ASME B30.9 — slings (web, round, wire rope, chain) inspection and use
- ASME B30.26 — rigging hardware (shackles, eye bolts, links, turnbuckles)
- ASME B30.10 — hooks
- OSHA 1910.184 and 1926.251 — general industry and construction sling safety
- WSTDA WS-2 and RS-1 — web and round sling design
- 49 CFR 393.102 to 393.130 — DOT cargo tie-down
- NACM — welded steel chain grade specs
Inspection & Safety
Before every use: visual check for cracks, corrosion, distortion, wear, and illegible markings. Annually (minimum): documented periodic inspection by a trained inspector. Remove from service at first sign of damage. Never repair rigging hardware by welding, heating, or bending.
WARNING: Improper use of rigging can cause death or serious injury. Never exceed the rated Working Load Limit. Apply derating for side-loading, elevated temperature, or chemical exposure. Final application decisions must be made by a Qualified Person per OSHA 1926.32(m).
