DICA LiftGuard® Beam & Plate Magnetic Sling Protector

Securely connect to the flange of an I-Beam or the edge of a steel plate to protect synthetic slings, wire rope, or chain slings. The grooved design fits securely over the steel edge, providing a stable, hands-free protective barrier between the sling and the load.

OSHA & ASME Compliance

LiftGuard® Sling Protectors help ensure compliance with federal and industry standards:

• OSHA 1926.251(c)(9): "Slings shall be padded or protected from the sharp edges of their loads."
• ASME B30.9: "Slings in contact with edges, corners, or protrusions should be protected with a material of sufficient strength, thickness, and construction to prevent damage to the sling."

Key Features

• Grooved Design: Multiple groove widths available to fit I-beam flanges and steel plate edges for a snug, stable fit. The steel flange MUST fit snugly into the groove.
• Medium Duty & Heavy Duty Options: Medium Duty (2 magnets) for synthetic slings. Heavy Duty (3 magnets) for synthetic slings, wire rope, and chain slings.
• Powerful Magnetic Attachment: 360 lbs of magnetic pull force — no tools needed for installation or removal.
• Non-Metallic Cast Nylon: High-performance material that won't scratch or damage load surfaces.
• Recessed Magnets: Slightly recessed to ensure magnetic connection without direct contact that could scratch painted surfaces.
• Patented Design: Made in the USA by DICA (Est. 1988).

⚠️ Important Warnings

• Never use wire rope slings with Medium Duty LiftGuard units. Wire rope requires Heavy Duty.
• The I-Beam flange or plate edge MUST contact the back of the groove — all three surfaces MUST be in FULL CONTACT with the load.
• No more than 1/16" slack between the groove and the plate's top and bottom edges.
• Never overload the sling protectors. DO NOT use protectors that are bowed or discolored — these are signs of overloading.
• Slings must only contact the flat surface of the protectors, never the rounded shoulder.

Capacity

• Synthetic Slings: Working Load Limit = 6,250 lbs per inch of synthetic sling width contact.
• Wire Rope & Chain Slings: Working Load Limit = 6,250 psi (Heavy Duty only).
• Wire Rope D/d ratio: DICA LiftGuard Sling Protector "D" = 5. Always consult your wire rope D/d guidelines.

Inspection & Safety

Before every use: visual check for cracks, corrosion, distortion, wear, and illegible markings. Annually (minimum): documented periodic inspection by a trained inspector. Remove from service at first sign of damage. Never repair rigging hardware by welding, heating, or bending.

WARNING: Improper use of rigging can cause death or serious injury. Never exceed the rated Working Load Limit. Apply derating for side-loading, elevated temperature, or chemical exposure. Final application decisions must be made by a Qualified Person per OSHA 1926.32(m).
