Specifications — Full Dimensions by Size
This is below the 5:1 commonly specified for wire rope and synthetic sling systems (4:1 is standard for alloy chain components under ASME B30.9). Where a 5:1 column is shown it is SlingCenter’s derate — the manufacturer’s figure remains the rating of record.

The 4:1 column is the manufacturer’s published Working Load Limit and is the rating of record — the figure marked on the product. The 5:1 column is calculated by SlingCenter as WLL × 4 ÷ 5, for comparison against components rated at the 5:1 commonly specified for wire rope and synthetic sling systems. It is always the lower of the two. We never restate a Working Load Limit upward. Size is the manufacturer’s nominal trade size and does not change between unit views — this part is ordered and stamped by that size in every market; the millimetre figure beside it is the equivalent, not a different size.
The Crosby S-247 Double Clevis Link is a load securement fitting for linking Grade 3 and Grade 4 chain to rings, end links, eye hooks, pad eyes, tractor eye bolts and similar attachments. The body is forged and heat-treated carbon steel; all pins are alloy steel, quenched and tempered.
Key Features
- Forged, heat-treated carbon steel body
- Alloy steel pins, quenched & tempered
- Quick and easy assembly
- Ultimate load is 4 times the Working Load Limit
Intended Use
- Grade 3 and Grade 4 chain connections
- Load securement and transport tie-down
Important Limitation
Not suitable for use with Grade 80 or Grade 100 chain and chain slings used in overhead lifting. This is a load securement fitting, not an overhead lifting component. Source: Crosby & Gunnebo Industries Catalog, Imperial 2025-2026, p.293.
Origin
Made in the USA by Crosby.
Safety & Standards
Every product we carry is individually marked with Working Load Limit (WLL), manufacturer traceability code, and country of origin. Inspection and mill certificates are available on request — email sales@slingcenter.com with your order number.
Governing Standards
- ASME B30.9 — slings (web, round, wire rope, chain) inspection and use
- ASME B30.26 — rigging hardware (shackles, eye bolts, links, turnbuckles)
- ASME B30.10 — hooks
- OSHA 1910.184 and 1926.251 — general industry and construction sling safety
- WSTDA WS-2 and RS-1 — web and round sling design
- 49 CFR 393.102 to 393.130 — DOT cargo tie-down
- NACM — welded steel chain grade specs
Inspection & Safety
Before every use: visual check for cracks, corrosion, distortion, wear, and illegible markings. Annually (minimum): documented periodic inspection by a trained inspector. Remove from service at first sign of damage. Never repair rigging hardware by welding, heating, or bending.
WARNING: Improper use of rigging can cause death or serious injury. Never exceed the rated Working Load Limit. Apply derating for side-loading, elevated temperature, or chemical exposure. Final application decisions must be made by a Qualified Person per OSHA 1926.32(m).
