Two further points from Crosby's own catalog page: every ring is individually proof loaded to 2-1/2 times the working load limit calculated on the 4:1 design factor, and the design factor falls to 4.5:1 when the ring is tested in the 90-degree orientation — so a side-pull application has less margin than the table suggests.

Both Working Load Limit columns are published by the manufacturer for this part — neither is calculated by us. The 5:1 figure is the conservative one and the rating to design to. Pound figures are converted by SlingCenter from the manufacturer’s metric rating at 1 kg = 2.20462 lb and rounded down — a unit conversion only, not a change of rating. The metric figure is the rating of record. Size is the manufacturer’s nominal trade size and does not change between unit views — this part is ordered and stamped by that size in every market; the millimetre figure beside it is the equivalent, not a different size. A column shown without a unit carries a designation rather than a measurement — a thread callout or a part type — so it reads the same in both views.
The Crosby HR-1000M metric swivel hoist ring is the metric-thread version of the industry-leading HR-1000 series. It provides full 360-degree swivel and 180-degree pivot with metric bolt threads for international and metric-specification equipment.

Inspection & Safety
Before every use: visual check for cracks, corrosion, distortion, wear, and illegible markings. Annually (minimum): documented periodic inspection by a trained inspector. Remove from service at first sign of damage. Never repair rigging hardware by welding, heating, or bending.
WARNING: Improper use of rigging can cause death or serious injury. Never exceed the rated Working Load Limit. Apply derating for side-loading, elevated temperature, or chemical exposure. Final application decisions must be made by a Qualified Person per OSHA 1926.32(m).
