The Type 2 basket hardware sling features flat triangle or choker fittings on both ends, specifically designed for basket hitch configurations. Built with Liftex® Pro-Edge® polyester webbing, this sling excels at cradling loads in a basket configuration where the hardware provides secure hook attachment points at both ends. The basket hitch effectively doubles the vertical rated capacity.

Basket Hitch Capacity by Angle

At 90° sling-to-load angle: 200% of vertical capacity. At 60°: 173%. At 45°: 141%. At 30°: 100%. Always calculate the actual sling angle and apply the appropriate reduction factor.

Applications

Cradled lifting of pipes, beams, bundles, and equipment where a basket hitch with secure hardware connections is preferred over simple eye loops.

Inspection & Safety

Before every use: visual check for cracks, corrosion, distortion, wear, and illegible markings. Annually (minimum): documented periodic inspection by a trained inspector. Remove from service at first sign of damage. Never repair rigging hardware by welding, heating, or bending.

WARNING: Improper use of rigging can cause death or serious injury. Never exceed the rated Working Load Limit. Apply derating for side-loading, elevated temperature, or chemical exposure. Final application decisions must be made by a Qualified Person per OSHA 1926.32(m).
